This press is upper roller driven (without gearing).
The spokes from the wheel are made of stainless steel pipe. If the spindles are loosened, the upper roller is raised by spring pressure. This makes presses ideally suited for lino and woodcut as well as intaglio printing. A pile of leather or cardboard can be placed under the spindles, thus providing more flexibility during printing. The upper roller has self lubricating bronze glide bearings and the lower roller ball bearings. The star wheel can be dismantled.
Blankets - Polymetaal recommend either a 2mm or 3mm pressed wool blanket with this press. If you want to use the press for embossing then multiple layers are required. In standard use if you use more blankets than necessary you will have to set a higher pressure for the same result. The 2mm blanket costs £60 inc. VAT (£50 excl. VAT) and the 3mm costs £90 inc VAT (£75 excl. VAT) - if you would like these added to your press order please email shop@handprinted.co.uk and we can send you an additional invoice.
